Expedition Planning

I. Equipment

Expeditions will be planned to last between 3 and 10 nights at a time, the goal being plenty of time for imaging and enjoying the outdoors. The list of things which I plan to purchase for the expedition can be found here. I think that I can reasonably accommodate 5-6 people before more tent space will be necessary.

Individuals are expected to bring the following:

1) A sleeping bag
2) Food (especially if they have special requirements)
3) Water
4) Suitable Footwear

Everyone is encouraged to bring a suitable vehicle on expeditions to 2WD accessible destinations. Other optional objects include.

  • Telescopes
  • Extra Tents
  • Fire Making supplies
  • Water Filtration Systems
  • Smokers
  • Fishing Poles
  • Extra batteries

IV. Expectations

1) The goal of the expeditions is to have fun, not everyone will have the same definition of what fun is, thus no one is required to engage in any activity they do not wish to engage in. However, you are not to discourage others unless there is an immediate threat to their health or the well being of the group.

2) During the night it is expected that astronomy will be given deference hence there will be a time when fires are doused and only red lights will be allowed at the campsite.

3) Couples are not discouraged from joining us on these expeditions however every member of the expedition is responsible for their own privacy, thus couples are encouraged to take along their own tents.

4) Use of space heaters will be forbbidden at night, and should terminate 1 hour before sunset.
